If counting calories, points or syns is not for you, the latest diet idea may be the answer. The Diet Plate (below) is a plate that does the measuring for you.
Just serve your food on the plate, making sure you stick within the boundaries marked for carbohydrates and protein, and the calorie counting is done for you.
It's calibrated to give you the recommended amounts of starch or carbohydrate and caters for combined products such as lasagne and shepherd's pie.
Creator Kay Illingworth came up with the idea in an effort to lose weight herself when she realised she didn't know what a portion should look like.
Using the plate, Kay has managed to shed over six stone in six months.
Of course the plate still requires will power - you need to stick to three meals a day - but at least it does away with calorie counting and measuring.
The plate comes in different versions for men and women and there's one for children too. Prices start at £19.00.
